The CUH was established in 1985 and is located close to the main Campus, University of Leicester. Its research projects include Industrial change in Midland towns; small towns in England, 1550-1850; the East Midlands oral history archive; and public health in The 20th century.

Centre for Metropolitan History

The Centre for Metropolitan History was established in 1988 as a research centre, part of the Institute of Historical Research. In collaboration with other organisations, it seeks to promote the study of London’s history, undertake specific research projects, provide bibliographic support for research, and act as a forum on metropolitan history. It organises a series of seminars and conferences. Its research papers, including material on Greater London, are searchable on-line.
